GUEST ARTICLE: Joe Joyce Impressed New Trainer Abel Sanchez on US Debut

By Mihaly Szabo

Olympic silver medalist Joe Joyce (6-0, 6KOs) made his United States debut with an impressive fifth round TKO win over Iago Kiladze.

Joyce came in the fight much larger than Kiladze, so wasn’t a question who’s going to win the fight. Joyce chased him in the first round all over but Kiladze managed to stay away from the trouble.

Joyce started the second round on high speed and he wanted to finish the fight, but Kiladze survived somehow. He nearly went out of the ring but got up from the ropes on wobbly legs and escaped the round.

In the third round, Joyce sent Kiladze to the canvas in the second time with a nice head and body combination, but he’s got up again and surprisingly attached back and got out of trouble.

The fourth round it continued where’s the third finished, and Joyce tried to put more pressure on Kiladze, but he’s survived the round again.

At the beginning of the fifth round Joyce sent Kiladze to the canvas again with a huge lefthand shot, he’s got up again just before the referee counted him out but was clear he doesn’t want anymore, so the referee stopped the fight.

Kiladze landed a few shots, but he couldn’t hurt Joyce, he lacked the power to do any real damage. This was Joyce’s first fight with new trainer Abel Sanchez, and seems to be he’s impressed with Joyce but of course, it’s only the beginning.

Do you think Joe Joyce could be a real threatening to Joshua, Fury or Wilder?
