Oscar Rivas (26-0) is ready to cause an upset when he comes to the UK to trade leather with “The Bodysnatcher” Dillian Whyte (25-1).
With heavyweight boxing in ripe condition at the moment, the Columbian native knows that a win against Whyte could potentially catapult him towards the top end of the division and could line up some massive fights in the future.
Although he is a massive underdog going into this fight, Rivas explained that he is not one to shy away from a challenge.
He said: “My preparations for this fight have been hard. I always work very hard so I can perform well in the fight. I always like to give everything in the ring. I’ve always been a boxer that likes to fight the best and that’s why I’ve accepted this great fight.”
The IBF international champion is coming off the back of a solid win against Bryant Jennings where he stopped the American in the 12thround to capture the aforementioned title.
The 31-year-old is looking forward to fighting on British soil for the first time and is relishing the opportunity to entertain the masses on such a huge platform.
He said: “It will be good to fight in England for the first time. It will be a great honour for me to show my talent on such a big show.”
Undefeated in 26 contests, hard-hitting Rivas has stopped 18 of his opponents inside the distance.
But he has revealed that he is more than ready for the fight to go into the latter rounds should he not find the knockout punch in the early stages.
He explained: “I am a boxer who does not always look for the KO. I just like to work hard and make sure that I stick to the plan in the ring.”
“Kaboom” is all too aware of the rewards that await him should he beat Dillian Whyte and there is a certain British heavyweight that he has eye on.
He said: “After this fight I am more than happy to fight the best. I’ve always said that I want to fight the best names. I like the big challenges and I’m ready to fight anyone. But a fight with Anthony Joshua is my main goal.”
