Toledo, Ohio’s rising star Sonny Fredrickson has linked up with Promotional Powerhouse DiBella Entertainment as he looks to make a charge towards a world title in 2019.
The popular Super Lightweight picked up the converted USBA title at the back-end of last year and is now looking to move up the world rankings in order too secure a crack at the world title.
The highly ranked 140 pounder discussed his link up with DiBella Entertainment and his plans now moving forward.
Fredrickson said, “I am delighted to have linked up with DiBella Entertainment and I have to thank my management team at Victory Sports and Entertainment for making it happen. VSE has guided my career perfectly and this is just another step towards reaching my ambition of becoming a world champion.
“DiBella Entertainment is a massive force in US Boxing and have opened doors for many top class fighters such as Paul Malignaggi and Richard Commey in recent times to become world champions. I believe that they will be able to do the same with me.”
Fredrickson was due to fight on the undercard of the WBSS in Louisiana which saw Regis Prograis progress to the tournaments final in style against the game Kiryl Relikh, however, his opponent was unable to make weight. The Ohio native discussed the issues in Louisiana and his plans going forward.
The Toledo man said, “I was very disappointed with my opponent not making weight in Louisiana. It was unprofessional of him but we move on and that is now in my rear view mirror.
“VSE has a plan to get me to a world title and I expect to be back in the ring soon and we will have a fight date shortly. I want to be active and I believe that I am still learning and I will become a world champion before my career is done.”
VSE’s Mike Leanardi opened up regarding Fredrickson inking a deal with DiBella and more.
Leonardi, who co-manages world class names such as Jose Pedraza, added, “I am delighted to see Sonny link up with DiBella Entertainment. It’s going to give him great opportunities going forward and I believe it’s the right move for everyone involved to get him on the path to a world title.”
