- WBO middleweight title fight between Savannah Marshall and Hannah Rankin cancelled
Scheduled for the main event of this weekend’s Matchroom show, the vacant WBO middleweight title fight has been cancelled. With Scotland’s Rankin and England’s Marshall no longer being able to compete, Lewis Ritson vs Miguel Vazquez will now serve as the main event. The bout was cancelled following Marshall’s trainer Peter Fury (Former trainer and uncle to Tyson Fury) testing positive for coronavirus. Ritson and Vazquez is confirmed after both men passed their tests.
- Shelly Finkel responds to Bob Arum over Wilder vs Fury 3
After Bob Arum came out and said that Wilder vs Fury will not be the next fight for Fury due to issues around arranging a date, many fans had AJ vs Fury on the brain. Wilder’s representative Shelly Finkel has brushed aside Arum’s claims telling ESPN “he can think what he wants.” He went on to say Wilder is currently training and that they’re prepared to fight Fury anywhere at any time.
- Murat Gassiev to debut at heavyweight against Sefer Seferi
After his previously arranged opponent in Kevin Johnson pulled out of their fight, the former WBA and IBF cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev has a new opponent for his heavyweight debut. A fellow former cruiserweight, Sefer Seferi will step in to take Johnson’s place. This will be Gassiev’s first fight back since losing the World Boxing Super Series final to Oleksandr Usyk in 2018.
- Garcia vs Campbell potentially moving to earlier start time
According to Steve Kim of ESPN, the bout between Ryan Garcia and England’s Luke Campbell may begin earlier in the day to avoid clashing with Errol Spence vs Danny Garcia. Scheduled for the 5th December, the date could end up stacked with events as Tyson Fury has also pinpointed the date as a potential fight.
- Oleksandr Usyk expects a tough test from Derrick Chisora
Former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has had a slow start to his move up to heavyweight. Finally getting his shot at Derrick Chisora on October 31st, Usyk is hoping for and expecting a tough test. “He is strong, tough and resilient. He is a huge guy, and he hits hard.” On a quest to reach the heights at heavyweight that he did at cruiser, Usyk also said how excited he is to get back to boxing and face another big obstacle.
- Former world champion Ricardo Mayorga rehabilitation update
Previously a WBC super welter and middleweight champion, has been facing his addiction issues inside a rehabilitation center. The World Boxing Council gave the update that he is now out and back with his family. He has also accepted the help of Julio Cesar Chaves who quit drugs and alcohol 11 years ago.
