Gamboa is a Tough Test of Caliber for Haney

World Boxing Council, Lightweight champion Devin Haney (24-0, 15 KOs), will face versatile and experienced former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (30-3, 18 KOs), on November 7.

Haney, 21, will fight Gamboa, 38, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, an event that will be broadcast on the DAZN platform.
“Gamboa is a veteran. He was a unified world champion, so the Cuban is not far behind, and he is the best name on my resume so far. I cannot underestimate his power. In his last fight, he went 12 rounds with Gervonta Davis, so he’s tough, he’s hungry and I can’t underestimate him, ” the champion stated.
“Gamboa is a tough opponent; he has been there with the best. He faced Crawford and got to hurt him… Gamboa, trains hard and is disciplined. I want to give the fans a great fight.
“My dad is excited about this fight. He knows that Gamboa is a tough test. You know I can’t take it lightly. Gamboa does not come for a walk. I am very excited to be back. It has been almost a year. I’m very excited to make my comeback and I look forward to put on a good show.”
Haney hasn’t stepped into the ring since winning a unanimous decision over Alfredo Santiago in November of last year. He injured his shoulder in that duel, which is why he was away for a few months. Gamboa also suffered an injury in his last fight against Gervonta Davis last December but is now 100% recovered.
