Matthysse Jr Postpones Professional Debut

Walter Ezequiel Matthysse Jr., who recently signed a promotional agreement with Sampson Boxing, tested positive for Covid-19, which is why he will not be able to be part of the card in which he would have made his professional debut in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Walter was going to have his first fight as professional facing local Fernando Henrique Messias Machado, who has a record of two wins, no losses.
After the positive result of his test was made public, Matthysse Jr expressed himself through social networks, saying:

‘I am super well and without symptoms of anything, with tremendous desire to fight and more prepared than ever, but hey, we cannot do anything about the result of COVID-19. It is a shame after so much effort, sacrifice and preparation for my long-awaited professional debut.

“Thanks to everyone who is writing to me and calling to ask me how I am, I just want to tell you that I’m fine and to stay calm. From this I get up stronger than ever. As always, everything happens for a reason and I leave everything to God’s promises to be fulfilled in their perfect timing.”
Matthysse, 21, is the nephew of two-time world champion Lucas Matthysse and the son of former world title challenger Walter Matthysse. He started boxing agedceleven, and has an excellent amateur record of 59-3-1 (30 KOs). He has also won major amateur tournaments.
